The Recon PC Application is used in conjunction with a ComSonics RECON-CIS installation meter via a Bluetooth connection.  The Recon PC application provides a full set of CATV testing capabilities that allow anyone with a RECON-ICS meter to measure the performance of CATV signals entering a home or building.

Recon Configuration Utility Version 2.1.0.zip (ZIP: 6.7 MB)
For use with iPad and iPhone RECON-CIS App version 1.2.0 and RECON PC application version 7.2.4 and later.

This is the latest version of the Recon Configuration Utility program that allows users to customize their channel plans for the Recon Signal Level Meter. Users can upload groups of channel plans to the Recon server that will allow propagation of the channel plans to all their assigned meters. This model allows the user to define up to 16 HSD Primary channels.

Sentinel Config Utility Software V1.06 (EXE: 3.5 MB) This latest version of the ComSonics Sentinel Configuration Utility utilizes the latest distance settings function and addresses a Windows 7 64 bit OS communications issue.

Companion UI FW V3.5 Modem FW V12.zip (1488KB) Various new User Interface enhancements have been implemented. A “saving” of custom screen settings upon power down in the  “Reverse Path” function, extending the input levels for “BER/MER” testing up to +20dBmV, and during the  Throughput CMTS connectivity testing, the Downstream frequency being “scanned” is  displayed. Select link above to download and save the “Companion UI FW V3.5 Modem FW V12 Zip” file onto your local PC hard drive. Unzip and save the contained 2 files (“pack-fw-3.5.tar.gz” and “pack-modem-v12.tar.gz”) onto your local PC hard drive. Utilizing instructions below, update the Companion’s existing firmware versions.

Firmware Installation Instructions 2008Aug15 (PDF: 208KB) Detailed instructions for installing firmware and modem firmware updates on Companion or follow the instructions below.

1. Select "save" option and utilize the browse function to save the "pack-fw-3.5.tar.gz" file on your PC somewhere remembering its location.
2. Access/open and run your Companion Config Utility SW.
3. Hook up your Companion meter to the USB comm cable.
4. Under the "tools" tab, select the "Download firmware" option.
5. Your browser window will open asking you to select the appropriate "Companion firmware.gz" or “Companion modem firmware.gz” file.
6. Navigate within this browser screen to the saved "pack-fw-3.5.tar.gz" or “pack-modem-v12.tar.gz” file, select and open.
7. As long as you have the comm port setup properly, the Companion unit should download and update properly.
8. Cycle power on the Companion meter and the firmware update is complete. Verify by accessing the Home / info screen and note the Firmware version listed.
   

Companion Configuration Utility Software V3.2 Upgrade (ZIP: 810KB) IMPORTANT: MUST HAVE PREVIOUSLY DOWNLOADED OR INSTALLED VERSION OF THE COMPANION CONFIGURATION UTILITY INSTALLED PRIOR TO DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING V3.2 COMPANION CONFIGURATION UTILITY UPGRADE.

1. Companion Firmware update V3.5 is recommended but not required.
2. Companion Modem Firmware update V12.0 is recommended but not required.
3. Click the icon above to download the upgrade “Config_Util_V3_2.zip” file. Zip file contains 3 individual files: “CompanionMultiPlanConfig.exe”, “Defaults.cmp” and “pack-fw-3.2.tar.gz”.
4. Locate downloaded zip file, unzip all 3 files and place into existing Companion Configuration Utility folder located on local disk drive (C:\Program Files\ComSonics,Inc\Companion MultiPlan Config). When prompt, replace pre-existing files.

Companion Configuration Utility Software 64bit Driver (GadgetSerial.zip: 588B)

1. Companion Configuration Utility Software 64bit “GadgetSerial” Driver for 64bit Hardware / Windows Operating Systems.
2. Click the link above to download the “GadgetSerial.zip” file.
3. Locate downloaded zip file, extract or unzip (do not select “open”) and save the “GadgetSerial.inf” file into the existing Companion Configuration Utility “Drivers” folder located on local disk drive (C:\Program Files\ComSonics,Inc\Companion MultiPlan Config\Drivers).
4. Install new driver browsing to the above folder / file location when prompt.

• Click the icon above to access and download the upgrade file (geologV15.zip).
• Insert the GeoNexus Proprietary compact flash card into the card reader.
• Unzip the contents of this zip file (geolog.dat) using an unpacking program, i.e. WinZip, to the compact flash card or a PC file location in which to access and copy onto the compact flash card.
• Once the geolog file has been copied onto the Proprietary flash card, utilize the PC mouse, right click on the compact flash card drive and select the Eject option.
• Remove the card from the card reader, and insert it into the GeoNexus unit.
• Power on the GeoNexus unit and allow the device approximately one to two minutes to process the file.
• Repeat these steps on all remaining GeoNexus Proprietary flash cards.

WindowLite Constellation Firmware Version 1.39 (458 KB) This is the latest version of the firmware to be downloaded into a WindowLite Constellation meter. Download these instructions, open the PDF file from the location where you saved them, and print them out to use during the update. The instructions should be used with the ComSonics Constellation Firmware Utility located on the system CD supplied with the meter.
